VOLUNTEER DAYS ON THE COMMON
These are held on the Sunday of the second full weekend of each winter month between 10.00 am and 2.00 pm.
Working parties are dependent on work requirements
- Working Parties - You will have noted from the Winter 2022 Newsletter, the scheduled working parties have been suspended. However, impromptu work parties may still happen such as a new fence for example. If these works require funding, then those funds are still available. Of course, there are always exceptions to the rules. A railing needs to be re-instated on Footpath 431 running from St Mary’s Worplesdon to the Jolly Farmer. This stretch is muddy and without the railing one might slip into the ditch that runs alongside. Contacted SWT - no, not our responsibility. Surrey CC has this responsibility. The man from Countryside Access, even after very clear instructions, could not find the area in question. I have been warned that if WCA repair the railing then the Association becomes responsible for any mishap that may occur on that path.

Christmas Tree Harvest - Sunday 1st December on the Common in the Mount Pleasant area, by kind permission of SCC and Surrey Wildlife Trust. This is “Harvest your own tree” - if you would like to come please remember to bring sturdy gloves, and bow saws if you have them. Let’s hope the weather is kind to us! Timing is from 10.00am until Midday. The gate access to Mount Pleasant will be closed at Midday so please be prompt.
Your help on the Common, even for an hour, would be greatly appreciated.
